PICcheck Operations:

[DOWNLOAD PICcheck HERE]

Introduction

PICcheck (specifically PIC96chk.exe) is a quick utility to check the functionality of your PIC-Serial and USB cable. This is the same program we use as our final quality check before the cable is shipped.

  Installation

If you received our latest CD, then PICcheck is automatically installed with the additional Scenes and Models installation. For users who downloaded the program from our web-site, just copy the file to any folder, such as the default installation folder of FMS or BackYard EditionXL.

  Running Screen

Connect your transmitter to the PIC-Serial cable according to this section. For USB cable, see this section.

Simply select your COM port and click [GO].

The COM port is where you've connected the PIC-Serial cable, usually COM1 or COM2. For the USB cable, the value will depend on where the USB driver selected the first available COM port, usually COM3 or COM4 (sometimes COM5).

If everything is functioning properly, the status line will display "Signal Found w/ x channels". Where x is the number of channels found in the signal stream. Upto 16 channels may be present, only the first 8 will be reported. You can move the sticks and see the meters correspond to the stick position.

Note: Often the number channels may be more than what your transmitter can control; a 4 channel radio may actually send 6 (but no control for the last two channels)

If after clicking [GO] and no signals were found, the status line will display "Signal NOT found". Check your connection or COM port value.

You can click on [STOP] to halt the readings, and X to exit.
